As we will be learning and growing in community together this year, thought you might like to know more about my background and teaching experience.
I have been in the field of education for 24 years and this is my 13th year teaching second grade. In 1998, I began working for Rowland Unified School District and after getting married, decided to work closer to home with the Pasadena Unified School District. I worked with them for ten years as a full-time and substitute teacher until 2012.
I joined Mountain Avenue as a second grade teacher in 2013 and have come to love working with the students and families in this community. Teaching brings me great joy and opportunities that continue to help me grow and evolve as a professional educator. I appreciate the rewarding parent partnerships I've been able to have and the growth their child makes in a school year, in part to our collaboration and communication.
I grew up in the San Gabriel Valley and lived in East Whittier during my early years. For my undergraduate work, I attended Whittier College and then went on to get my teaching credential from Cal Poly Pomona. In 2006, I received my Masters in Education from the University of La Verne.
My husband Eric and I live in Monrovia and have three children. We love spending time together, traveling, and playing outdoor sports.
When not teaching I love to exercise, read, hike, garden, and work on creative craft projects.
