Social Studies Unit 3

(Lessons 6-9)

Students will learn about three groups that came to North America from England, and discover the challenges and hardships they faced as they struggled to survive and build new communities in North America.

Then, kids will compare six British colonies in North America and learn how life in three colonial regions-New England, Middle, and Southern-was similar and different.

Lastly, students will explore how capturing and trading enslaved people changed the lives of West Africans, and learn why enslaved Africans were traded.  They’ll study how they traveled across the Atlantic and into a life of bondage in the Americas.
