Hello Mountain Avenue Families,

My name is Donella Coram, and this is my 8th year at Mountain Avenue and my 9th year in the GUSD Family.  This will be in my 11th year as a Special Education teacher. I look forward to getting to know you and your child this school year.

My name is Clarissa Marquez and this is my 2nd year at Mountain Avenue and my 2nd year in the GUSD Family.  This will be in my 8th year as a Special Education teacher. I look forward to getting to know you and your child this school year.

Teaching/Educational Philosophy:

We are passionate about helping students with a diverse range of needs attain higher levels of school success. We often start by building on existing strengths to promote efficacy in daily academic routines. We also value the opportunity to collaborate with parents and teachers as we “bridge the gap” between home and school.

Making data-driven decisions surrounding instruction, utilizing multi-sensory teaching methods to support individual learning needs, and accommodating students' linguistic and cultural differences helps them thrive.

Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Information

Your child has support provided for them by a diverse support team.  We will be collaborating with your child’s classroom teacher, service providers (if that applies), and campus staff, and look forward to seeing your child thrive this school year.  Each student with an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) will have an annual meeting before the meeting date held last year. Don’t worry; We will contact you to schedule your IEP meeting.  Any educational concerns, questions, or support is why we are here, so please don’t hesitate to contact me regarding your child’s progress this year.
