Social Studies Unit 5
(Lessons 13-15)
Students will read about the battles during the American Revolution and discover the struggles that the small, inexperienced Continental army had to overcome in order to win against the large, professional British army.
Next, they will learn why the first central government of the U.S., the Articles of Confederation, failed. They will discover how the Founding Fathers came to write the Constitution-one of the greatest plans of government ever created.
Lastly, kids will observe how the Bill of Rights was added to the Constitution to protect citizens’ rights. They will reflect of these rights and how they affect U.S. citizens today.
